CODE OF CONDUCT
Admission PROCEDURE:
- Application
for admission should be submitted on the prescribed form by the
student’s guardians, who will be responsible to the School authorities
for the pupil's conduct, punctuality, regular attendance, academic
performance and payment of fees. These forms are available at the School
office.
- A prospective
pupil will be given a written placement test in English, Mathematics,
and Bengali or Hindi prior to admission. The placement test will be used
to determine for which class the student is academically prepared. The
decision of the School authorities regarding the placement of students
is final.
REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW ADMISSION:
- The following supporting documents must be submitted with admission form prior to the granting of admission:
- Birth Certificate—Should be produced as an evidence of the date of birth entered in the admission form
- Mark Sheet from the School last attended (photocopy)
- Recent Passport Photograph (2)
- Aadhaar of the Student (photocopy)
- Proof of Residency (parent/guardian’s Aadhaar/Voter ID)
- Foreign nationals/ NRI candidates are required to submit relevant supporting documents.
- After
placement test during admission the original Transfer Certification
—Must be provided from the School last attended, duly countersigned by
the educational authorities of the area. And need to produce TC from
Bangla Portal also.
Re-ADMISSION:
The
existing student of Cornerstone School who wants to take re-admission
for new session has to take admission on time otherwise the seat will be
offered to new students. The readmission date will be given by the
school on notice board.
Withdrawal:
- Those
who take Transfer Certificate in the middle of the academic year are
liable to pay fees for the remaining months of the entire academic year.
- Parents
should inform the School in writing at least one month in advance, of
their intention to withdraw a pupil from the School or one month's fee
will be charged in lieu of notice.
- A
transfer certificate or any other certificate is issued only if all
School dues are paid and School property taken on loan, if any, is
returned.
School Uniform: It is compulsory for students to wear the prescribed uniform at school.
School Fees:
- Admission fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.
- Fees are to be paid before the 10th of each month, failing which, a late fee of Rs. 50/- will be charged for all classes.
- Students
with unpaid fees for three consecutive months will have their names
struck off the register rolls. They may be considered for re-admission
provided that they fulfill the formalities for the new admission.
- Students with unpaid fees will not be allowed to sit for examinations.
- All fees must be paid prior to the release of any examination results.
- Fees have to be paid for all twelve months of the academic year.
- Fees structure and payment schedule is attached with the Prospectus.
For Parents
- Please
co-operate with the School authority and staff for the better education
of your child. Anything done or said which tears down respect and
confidence will affect the child.
- Parents
should quickly take any misunderstandings to the teacher. If the
problem remains unsolved, the parent should then consult the principal.
- Make sure that your child is escorted safely to School and back home.
- Ensure your child is completing homework every day.
- Always send a leave application regarding your child addressed to the principal on the first day your child returns to classes.
- Coming
to the School premises in an inappropriate manner i.e. drunk, smoking
cigarettes, shouting, showing anger etc. is not permitted.
- Parents are not allowed to enter classrooms unless permission is given by the School Authorities.
- Parents
are not permitted to enter the School premises unless they are coming
to the office for a meeting, paying fees, or attending a special
program.
- Parents must provide new contact information to the office as soon as any changes occur.
- Parents
must arrive on time for result day to see how their student is
progressing. Results will only be shown on result day at the appointed
time.
- Parents are requested to be available if it is necessary, to discuss aspects of the child’s behavior at school.
- Parents
should check the diary regularly. Remarks made in the diary should be
signed and countersigned so as to avoid putting the child through any
inconvenience.
- Criticism of
a teacher or of the school in the presence of the child should be
avoided. In case of a legitimate complaint, please contact the
Principal/Head of the department.
- Be open to listening and considering the teacher’s opinions regarding your child even when the comments are not complimentary.
- If a child is sick she should not be sent to school.
- Kindly
ensure that your child packs his/her school diary, text and exercise
books, pen, pencil box (as per time-table) to avoid being overloaded.
- As
the medium of instruction in the school is English, children should be
helped to follow their classes easily by a certain amount of regular
English conversation at home.
- If
your ward is suffering from any serious/chronic ailment, it is the duty
of the parent to give detailed information to the school.
For Students
- Students must be in school by 8:05 AM
- As
the medium of instruction in the school is English children are
expected to communicate in English only inside the school premises.
- All students must be punctual for School, lessons, assembly, and any School-organized activities.
- Students
should come to School regularly and on time. In order to sit for
examinations, students must have a minimum of 80% attendance.
- If a student is late for School on three occasions, it will be counted as one absence.
- A
student, who is sick during School hours, must inform his/her teacher.
The School office will then contact the student’s parent/guardian to
take him/her home.
- Students
on sick leave, absent for three or more consecutive school days, must
submit a medical certificate upon returning to School.
- Students must come to School neatly dressed in School uniform with all their books, copies, pens and other necessary supplies.
- Pullovers,
trousers and shirts must not be oversized or undersized. Shirts must be
trucked in at all times. All buttons of a student’s shirt must be
fastened.
- Hair must be
combed and tied properly for boys and girls respectively. Students are
not permitted to wear hair styles to school, including color, gel, etc.
All students should come to school with basic hairstyles.
- Shoes must be polished and shining every day. Shoes must not look unpolished during the morning assembly.
- All nails must be clean, short and neatly trimmed.
- Students are expected to speak politely and respectfully to the School Authorities and staff.
- Raging bullying is strictly prohibited inside school premises.
- Students
are responsible to act with caution inside and outside the school
grounds. The School cannot be held responsible for accidents or injuries
of the student within or outside the School premises at any time.
- Students suffering from infectious disease shall not be permitted to attend class.
- Students
with irregular attendance on Saturdays will not be allowed to
participate in any School activities, such as sports, School functions
etc.
- Any
student found to be cheating on an exam or test will be excluded from
selection as a class captain, house captain, class monitor, or any other
leadership responsibilities.
- Students are not permitted to eat in the classrooms or to be inside the classrooms during tiffin time.
- Students
are expected to take good care of the school compound and school
property. Any loss or damage due to carelessness of the students will
result in fines.
- Fines will be levied for those plucking flowers from the school premises.
- In case of gross misconduct, the school has the right to take appropriate disciplinary action against the student concerned.
- On
birthdays, children are permitted to bring toffees only and can
distribute within the class only. Class teachers are responsible for
celebrating the birthdays. Sing song ones for all students those who
have birthday. No gifts are to be brought. Class hour should not be
wasted.
- The name, class and
section of the pupil should be clearly marked on all the belongings of
the students. Water bottles, blazers/cardigans must have name tags on
them.
- Any quarrel/fight,
dispute should be reported to the concerned authority of the school at
the earliest. If a student is caught threatening or beating any fellow
student or any school staff or deliberately damaging school property he
or she will be expelled from the school without any prior notice.
- No child will be permitted to leave the school premises before the stipulated timings.
- Students with 100% attendance will be given Commendation certificates.
- Students are not permitted to enter the staff room.
- Students are permitted to use the Canteen services only during the break time and after school hours.
- All lights and fans are to be switched off in class rooms when not in use during the day.
- No paper is to be left lying around on the campus.
- The washrooms are to be properly used and kept clean for the next user.
- Students must maintain silence when walking in lines for Assembly, SUPW classes, P.T. classes, Computer class etc.
- Students will be subject to disciplinary action if they participate in the following activities:
- Disrespecting or disobeying any staff member
- Cheating on class tests or exams
- Leaving School premises during the School hours without approval
- Fighting, arguing, or using inappropriate language
- Neglecting to complete homework
- Regularly arriving late for school
- Breaking the discipline of the school
- Buying or selling items with other students
- Forming romantic relationships with another student
- Bringing the following banned items onto school premises:
- Toys, matches, lighters, laser pointers
- Knives, blades, penknives or sharp objects
- Chewing gum
- Any kind of card games
- Electronic
devices: radios, tape, CD, or MP3 players, hand-held electronic/video
games, pagers, cellular phones, expensive watches, costly fountain pens,
fancy pencil boxes, electronic pets and etc.
- Cosmetics, make up, nail polish, gold ornaments etc.
- Pornographic materials and unlicensed CD-ROMs
- Any addictive or harmful substances, including cigarettes, tobacco, supari, gutka, alcohol, etc.
- Any other items that will disrupt the learning process.
Prior to signing the School Code of Conduct, parents must read and understand completely.
I
have read and understood the School’s Code of Conduct. I will respect
all the decisions of the School Authorities and I am happy to co-operate
with the School for the better education of my child.
